Pumpkins and paintball might not sound like the most obvious combination, but at Callaham Orchards in Belton, South Carolina, they’re both part of the fun this fall. Add in a colorful flower field, a corn maze, wagon rides, and a few curious farm animals, and October is a pretty exciting month on the farm.
While some fall traditions never go out of style, there’s always room to try something different. This year, Callaham Orchards is introducing two new experiences to its Fall Family Fun Days: a paintball attraction where visitors can test their aim and a pick-your-own flower field filled with seasonal blooms. Alongside the familiar favorites families look forward to each year, these additions bring even more variety to the fall season.
New This Fall: Ready, Aim, Paintball!
One of the newest additions to Callaham Orchards is a paintball attraction, giving visitors a chance to test their aim and enjoy some friendly competition. Whether you’re trying it for the first time or you’re convinced you’ve got the steadiest hand in the family, it’s a fun way to add a little excitement to your visit.
The attraction features a target-shooting setup where visitors can take their best shot and see how accurate they really are. It’s the kind of activity that might start with someone saying they’ll only try one round and end with everyone wanting another chance to improve their score. Parents can get in on the fun, older kids can put their skills to the test, and family members can compare their results to see who has the best aim.
Paintballs are available for purchase at $5 for a small bag or $10 for a large bag. The attraction is an additional-cost activity and is not included with general Fall Family Fun admission. For families who have visited Callaham Orchards in previous seasons, paintball offers something entirely new to look forward to this October.
Pick Your Own Flowers
Fall is usually associated with pumpkins, apples, and changing leaves, but this year there’s another kind of harvest waiting at Callaham Orchards. The pick-your-own flower field adds a burst of color to the season, with sunflowers and zinnias bringing a little unexpected brightness to the farm.
Rather than choosing a prearranged bouquet, visitors can walk through the flower field, select the blooms that catch their eye, and create their own combination of colors and flowers. Some might choose a handful of sunflowers, while others may prefer a mix of zinnias in different shades. It’s a simple, hands-on experience that lets everyone put together something a little different.
U-pick flowers are available for $1.50 per stem, making it easy to pick a few favorites or create a larger bouquet to take home. It’s also a great opportunity to enjoy another side of the farm, especially for visitors who love fresh flowers, gardening, or seasonal photography.
Like everything growing at Callaham Orchards, the flower field follows its own seasonal schedule. Bloom availability depends on growing conditions, so October is a wonderful time to enjoy the flowers while they’re here. Visitors interested in other opportunities to harvest directly from the farm can also explore Callaham’s seasonal U-Pick experiences.
The Fall Favorites That Never Get Old
Of course, new attractions are only part of the story. Fall at Callaham Orchards wouldn’t feel quite the same without the pumpkins, corn maze, and familiar activities that have become seasonal favorites.
The pumpkin patch remains one of the highlights of October, whether you’re searching for the biggest pumpkin you can carry, one with the perfect shape for carving, or a collection of smaller pumpkins to decorate the porch. There’s something about choosing your own pumpkin that makes it feel a little more special than picking one up at the grocery store, especially when the whole family gets involved in the search.
Beyond the pumpkin patch, the corn maze continues to challenge visitors who think they have a great sense of direction, while the barrel train and farm wagon rides offer their own kind of fun. The farm animals are another favorite, particularly for younger guests who are often just as excited to meet the goats and other animals as they are to explore the attractions. Add in farm games, pumpkin painting, seasonal treats, and plenty of opportunities for family photos, and there’s no shortage of familiar fall activities to enjoy.
These longtime favorites are a big part of what makes October special at Callaham Orchards, and they’re even better when paired with something new. A Family Farm That Keeps Growing
Callaham Orchards has been family-owned since 1969, and while the farm has changed over the decades, its agricultural roots remain an important part of what makes it special. Growing crops, welcoming visitors, and sharing the farm with the surrounding community have all helped shape Callaham Orchards into what it is today.
The addition of paintball and flower picking reflects that continued growth. One brings a little action and friendly competition to the farm, while the other gives visitors an opportunity to experience the beauty of something grown right in the field. They’re very different activities, but both offer another way for families to connect with the farm and enjoy their time together.
That’s what makes the mix of old and new so appealing. Returning visitors can still enjoy the attractions they’ve come to know, while discovering something that wasn’t part of their last visit. First-time guests get to experience a family farm that combines its agricultural traditions with a growing collection of seasonal activities.
