Fall is one of those seasons that just feels right on the farm. The weather starts to cool, pumpkins begin filling the patch, muscadines and scuppernongs are ready on the vines, and families are looking for an excuse to spend a little more time outside together. At Callaham Orchards, it’s also a season when many different parts of the farm come together.
A fall visit might start with picking something fresh or seeing what’s available at the Farm Market. From there, you can wander through the pumpkin patch, visit the animals, grab a farm treat, and, on weekends beginning September 26, make a full day of Fall Family Fun. With so much happening around the farm, it’s worth planning ahead so you have plenty of time to enjoy everything on your list.
Whether Callaham Orchards is already part of your family’s fall traditions or you’re planning your first visit to our farm in Belton, South Carolina, there’s a lot to look forward to this season. Here are a few ways to spend a fall day with us.
See What Fall Brings to the Farm
One of the best things about visiting a working farm is that no two seasons look quite the same. Fall brings pumpkins, of course, but there’s plenty happening beyond the pumpkin patch. Muscadines and scuppernongs arrive in late summer and early fall, seasonal fruits and vegetables continue making their way into the market, and the farm begins to take on that unmistakable fall feeling.
It’s all part of the rhythm of a farm that has been growing in Belton since 1969. While a lot has changed over the years, the Callaham family is still doing what it has always done: growing good things and sharing the farm with the community. Pick Something Fresh From the Vine
Before pumpkins take all the attention, there’s another fall favorite worth looking for. Late summer and early fall bring U-Pick muscadines and scuppernongs to Callaham Orchards, giving visitors a chance to head out to the vines and pick something fresh to take home.
If you’ve never picked muscadines or scuppernongs before, it’s a fun way to experience another side of the farm. And if you have, you probably already know how good they are fresh from the vine. Just remember that Mother Nature makes the schedule around here, so weather, ripeness, and field conditions can all affect availability. Check our latest updates before making a special trip to pick.
Find Your Pumpkin in the Patch
Then there are the pumpkins, and choosing one is a fall tradition all its own. During Fall Family Fun Days, families can wander through the pumpkin patch and search for a favorite to take home. Maybe it’s perfectly round, maybe it has a crooked stem, or maybe your little one chooses the biggest pumpkin they can possibly carry. The hunt is half the fun.
Access to the pumpkin patch is included with Fall Family Fun admission, with pumpkins available to purchase separately. Little pumpkin artists can also get creative with pumpkin painting, which is included with the purchase of a pumpkin. Between the pumpkin patch, fall displays, and farm scenery, you’ll find plenty of reasons to pull out the camera while you’re here.
Round Up the Family for Fall Family Fun
From September 26 through October 31, 2026, weekends bring even more activity to the farm. Fall Family Fun Days are open Saturdays from 10 AM – 6 PM and Sundays from 12-6 PM. Admission is $11 online or $12 at the gate, with children 2 and under admitted free.
Once you’re through the gate, there’s plenty to keep the whole crew busy. Wind your way through the corn maze, hop aboard the barrel train or scenic farm wagon ride, see how high the kids can bounce on the jump pad, dig into the giant sandbox, or try Brodie’s Ballin’ Baskets, Wall Ball, and the Steer Roping Challenge. Interactive play exhibits and other activities add even more to explore, while gem mining is available for an additional charge.
There’s a lot to fit into an afternoon, but there’s no need to rush from one activity to the next. Give everyone time to find their favorites, take a wagon ride around the farm, tackle the corn maze, and enjoy a fall day on the farm.
Don’t Forget to Visit the Animals
Make some time during your visit to say hello to the farm animals, too. Families can visit the goats and Millie the cow and even give them something to eat. For kids who don’t spend much time around farms, getting up close to the animals can quickly become one of the highlights of the day.
The animals are also another reminder that Callaham Orchards is more than a place to visit for a fall afternoon. This is a working farm, where caring for the land, crops, and animals is part of everyday life. From crop rotation and well-water irrigation to solar power and honey bees that help with pollination, there’s a lot happening behind the scenes. You can learn more about the farm today and how the Callaham family cares for the land.
Come Hungry & Visit the Farm Market
A few hours of exploring the farm can work up an appetite, so it’s worth leaving some room for a treat. During Fall Family Fun Days, visitors can grab a hot dog between activities or choose something sweet, including soft-serve ice cream, warm mini donuts, popcorn, slushies, and the seasonal apple cider float.
Before heading home, stop by the Callaham Orchards Farm Market to see what’s fresh. Seasonal fruits and vegetables grown right here on the farm share the market with honey, jarred goods, and other farm favorites. Since the selection follows the harvest, what you find can change throughout the season, giving you a chance to take home something fresh for the kitchen or a reminder of your day at the farm.
Make Callaham Orchards Part of Your Fall Traditions
A fall day at Callaham Orchards can look a little different for every family. You might come ready to tackle the corn maze and leave talking about feeding Millie, or stop by for muscadines and end up finding the pumpkin that has to come home with you. Between fresh-picked produce, farm animals, pumpkins, wagon rides, seasonal treats, and time spent together outside, there are plenty of ways to make the day your own.
For more than 50 years, families have been coming to Callaham Orchards to experience what each new season brings. If you’re looking for fall activities near Anderson, Greenville, or elsewhere in Upstate South Carolina, we’d love to have your family be part of that tradition.
